Who We Are
The largest independent distributor in the UK, Proper Music Distribution provides top quality distribution and label services to over 1000 record companies and artists from around the world. We deal with all sorts of music on CD, DVD and vinyl as well as posters, t-shirts and the occasional overblown box set.
The bulk of our operations centre around getting CDs into record stores for you to buy. This ranges from your local independent record store (if you still have one) to the likes of HMV, supermarkets and online stores like Amazon and Play. We also supply digital releases to services throughout the world including iTunes, AmazonMP3, eMusic, Spotify, Napster etc.
Being an independent company, the people who hold shares are also involved in the day-to-day running of the company. This means that despite their seniority our directors, along with our purchasing, marketing, sales, accounts and IT teams, will often be found in our warehouse picking CDs and taping up boxes alongside our dedicated warehouse staff.
Festival goers will almost certainly have seen our record stall at Cambridge Folk Festival which we’ve been running for several years; look out for us at other festivals too.
