From 12th – 22nd April 2012, the Alchemy Festival returns to London’s Southbank with a wealth of music, dance, literature, film, debate, fashion and design from India and South Asia. In a bid to explore the “rich cultural connections between Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the UK”, the festival showcases “classical masters alongside emerging British Asian talent; folk traditions alongside youth culture; stimulating debate and the latest fashions” with a mix of festival regulars and artists appearing for the first time outside of India and Pakistan.
Check out The Raghu Dixit Project who’ll be performing with members of Bellowhead, plus Asian Dub Foundation, Susheela Raman and Arun Ghosh among many others, including the Sachal Studios Orchestra whose version of Brubeck’s Take 5 (from the album Sachal Jazz – Interpretations of Jazz Standards & Bossa Nova) has attracted a huge following around the globe – watch them in action performing Take 5 below.
