The heady days of summer may seem like a distant memory as we slip into autumn 2011 but happily there are plenty of interesting new projects on the horizon at Proper. September sees the launch of Propermusic.com‘s brand new series of weekly podcasts produced and hosted by award-winning broadcaster Trevor Dann.
The series features a rotating group of panellists including top music journalists, editors, concert promoters, venue bookers and DJs invited to discuss Proper’s recent releases and other topical subjects. Over the coming months there will also be interviews with artists, label heads and a variety of people working across the specialist music industry.
For Propermusic.com’s very first podcast, Trevor Dann is joined by BBC foreign correspondent and music journalist Robin Denselow, musician, promoter and founder of the Magpie’s Nest collective Sam Lee, and BBC Radio producer and freelance journalist Julian May (pictured above) to discuss Martin Simpson’s Purpose + Grace, The Cambodian Space Project’s 2011: A Space Odyssey and the collaborative Cecil Sharp Project 2011 and talk about their own musical highlights of the summer.
Host Trevor Dann said : “Proper is a big name in all the musical genres I love – folk, blues, country, jazz, Americana to name but five – and what I love about these podcasts is that we don’t have to pigeon-hole the music. Where some radio stations have a folk show or a country show or rock show, we can mix all the genres together. For us it’s all proper music.”
The Propermusic.com podcast is available for download through iTunes and SoundCloud. New episodes available every Monday.
