The first names have been announced for this year’s SummerTyne Americana Festival – one of Europe’s most popular celebrations of Americana music – which takes place in and around The Sage Gateshead, on the south bank of the river Tyne. Now in its seventh year, SummerTyne 2012 takes place from Friday 20th July – Sunday 22nd July and tickets are on sale now.

Plus there’ll be the best of country, blues and rock ‘n’ roll on the Jumpin’ Hot free outdoor stage; top regional artists performing on the free SummerTyne HomeFries outdoor stage and the SummerTyne Boat will be cruising down the river with live performances from some special festival guests. There will also be Americana inspired food and margaritas galore from the SummerTyne Street Kitchen.
